Out with the old, in with the new! And so the saying goes especially as a new year approaches! At the beginning of 2012 when I was still on the cusp of starting my business in full force, I decided to adopt the saying:
I can honestly say, I did this to it’s fullest capacity! But as I have had a chance to reflect on this past year, I have come to the conclusion that I have desperately FAILED! I have accomplished my set out task to “do what I love and to love what I do”, but I have failed terribly at finding balance while I do it! As 2013 has only just begun, I will continue to strive to do what I love and love what I do, but to find BALANCE while doing it! If I know myself, being the people-pleaser I am, this is going to be a very difficult challenge!
This past year I have dove head first in capturing moments of family, kiddos, newborns and have loved every minute of it. I have loved it so much that I have allowed it to become my #1 priority! Well, with 2013, I had to go back to the drawing board and figure out, how do I “do what I love and love what I do” and do it ALL with balance???? The problem is, I CAN’T! Something has to give! If I want balance with my family, balance as a nurse, balance as a photographer, balance as a hockey mom, balance as the area coordinator for NILMDTS… and the list goes on…. I must prioritize! And why am I posting this on my photography blog for all my clients, inquirers, friends and family to read? I’m glad you asked! Because my answer will directly affect YOU!
How do I find balance at loving what I do and doing what I love? For 2013 Candidly Inspired Photography will specialize in photographing MATERNITY, NEWBORNS, & BABIES THROUGHOUT THEIR FIST YEAR! Will I still be doing family sessions? Yes and No! I will be doing them… but ONLY during a few weeks in the months of June-July and October-November! I have yet to decide which weeks these sessions will be available, but will be posting them here to the blog in the coming weeks. Those family sessions will be first come, first serve and spots will be very limited. My heart is saddened that I cannot do it ALL, but I know that this is the best thing for me, my family and my business! As with anything in life, it is crucial to find those things that you are good at and to excel at them! I love being a mom, a newborn photographer and a nurse! My hope is that as 2013 unfolds, I will be flooded with more newborns and babies to photograph! I am looking forward to those amazing family sessions as well!
Thank you so much to all of my amazing clients who have given me the opportunity of making 2012 so amazing! I cannot wait to capture more memories in 2013 for your family as well as my own! As we say goodbye to 2012, I thought I would leave you with Candidly Inspired Photography’s class of 2012 newborns!
Thank you again to everyone who made 2012 such an amazing year! My prayer is that 2013 exceeds my expectations as well as yours! XOXO!
